A backup cadence for private on-device whiskey records: original spreadsheet, CSV export, PDF snapshot, photos, and device backup.
Local-first only works if you export periodically. Privacy and backup are both habits.

Keep the original import file
If you imported from a spreadsheet, keep the original file. Do not treat an app import as the only copy of years of collection history.
Export CSV after meaningful changes
After adding a batch of bottles, a tasting event, or a major shelf cleanup, export CSV. Store it somewhere you control.
Use PDF for human-readable snapshots
CSV is for structured data. PDF is for a readable snapshot you can open without remembering column meanings. Keep both when the cellar matters.
Back up photos through your device workflow
Label photos live with the app record. Use your own iPhone backup and photo/file backup approach if bottle photos are important to you.
Set a recurring habit
Monthly is enough for casual users. After every tasting event or import session is better for active collectors.
